Chronic pelvic pain: the gynaecological enigma

Abstract 

Chronic pelvic pain is a complaint which gives rise to a large number of gynaecological referrals. It is also responsible for a significant proportion of hospital admissions for the assessment of acute exacerbations and for surgical procedures. The causes are poorly understood and treatment often unsatisfactory. This review considers those conditions commonly attributed to causing the symptoms and describes forms of management.
