Management of the scarred uterus in subsequent pregnancies
Abstract
Rates of Caesarean section have increased to the point that, in some countries, one in six second deliveries will be in women with a previous Caesarean section.
A trial of labour is not devoid of increased fetal and maternal risk, and therefore the ultimate decision about whether to attempt a trial of labour or undergo a repeat Caesarean delivery should be made following a discussion between the woman and her obstetric carers. It is the role of the obstetrician to give both the unbiased facts and an opinion about what might be the best course of action.
