Gynaecological history and examination are crucial in the assessment of women. Whilst we have the equivalent of an investigative arsenal, the choice of test depends on the differential diagnosis suggested by the initial assessment. The following review is primarily aimed at membership candidates, and therefore reflects the scenarios in which history and examination will be encountered in the new style examination.
